Communal Garden Design Maida Vale London
Communal but private, Maida Vale
The brief for this neglected communal garden was to create a pleasant space that would provide the ground floor flats with terraces that felt as private as possible but that would still feel communal when looked at from the upper floors.
This was achieved by screening the generous ground-floor terraces from each other with a miniature maze of evergreens while keeping the rest of the garden circular.
Large mixed borders with year-round interest were created along the fences, with particular attention given to scent. The garden is rapidly maturing into a lush and colourful city retreat
